what is a better machete, Gerber Gator or great cold steel kukri machete?
They are both good tools. I think the Gator's a traditional "Latin American" machete, which is a very sound performer, both as a tool and weapon. However, the Cold Steel Kukri can deliver a much more powerful blow for the curve of the blade, once you get to learn how to use it. I personally like the style Kukri, and used them to chop down trees in the front (small ones, not lumber jack type). Played right, they cut some thick vines and limbs with one strike. If given my choice, I would probably go to Cold Steel, in any form, over Gerber. My reasons are mostly due to where I live, and that Gerber is a military related name to the police and others are terrified of (it makes you a terrorist to them). Even small knife with the name of the military, saw backs, and other trendy redneck things threaten the reach and best avoided, especially if you are unlucky enough to have served in the military (and hence a psychopathic killer). I have also Cold Steel saw the videos, where they severely abuse the blades, and they keep right on cutting even things they had no business cutting to begin with. know I have these tools, I have something I can trust more than other things, that I could be in a serious pinch.
